The everest of canoeing
The Devizes to Westminster International Canoe Marathon is the ultimate paddling challenge - 125 miles of kayaking or canoeing from Devizes in Wiltshire to Westminster Bridge in London. The longest non-stop canoe race in the world, testing the mental and physical limits of hundreds of paddlers every Easter weekend.
From complete beginners to the world's best kayakers, DW provides an exciting challenge for everyone. |
zero to hero preparation
A focused course - DW: Zero to Hero -running from September to Easter that equips paddlers with all the skills, fitness and knowledge necessary to not just survive but thrive in their race.
Our club provides a boat, paddles and buoyancy aids to race with, and the course involves up to four kayak training sessions/lessons per week, spending lots of time on the water developing paddling skills, as well as lots of off-water advice sessions about logistics, hydration, food, portaging, all the necessary information for support crews and more. Paddlers will have the opportunity to be coached by some of the country's most experienced DW paddlers, including Richard Hendron who has completed the race 16 times and won 5 times. |
